Thanks to the guys at The Carbon Fiber Journal we are bringing you the ultimate “fun times” machine for those who just love Corvettes and boats… and of course carbon fiber. This vessel was built by Pier 57 based out of Tennessee to the tune of about 1.7 million dollars. Her official branding is a 2012 MTI ZR48, and we found the spinoff of the ZR1 title combined with her LOA (Length Overall) to be rather creative.
The Vette enthusiast should feel relatively at home upon climbing into the cockpit which resembles the C6, the 6th generation of Corvettes. The ZR1 was built within the C6 generation and Pier 57 used all OEM parts from Chevrolet for any of the Corvette features.
Naturally, we think you’d be hard pressed to build a better looking interior for your custom boat. While you may feel comfortable inside, you would be in a whole new world of horsepower “under the hood.”
The carbon fiber boat houses a pair of 1,350 hp turbocharged Mercury Marine V8s, and to top it off, they do resemble the LS9s found in the ZR1 thanks to the engine covers. The combined engines produce about 2,700 hp which help to push this craft to speeds in excess of 180 mph!
Now you can’t show up at the launch ramp with the coolest boat strapped to a shoddy truck and trailer right? Of course the proud owner of the ZR48 is well aware, and aptly went above and beyond to make sure each aspect of his setup is top notch.
The tow vehicle is immaculate in and of itself, but don’t overlook the custom trailer which is equipped with a generator, water tank, power washer, engine flush system, LEDs throughout, five televisions, a stainless steel floor, and air-ride suspension. Once you load the boat, you can tilt it on it’s side during transport allowing it to fit within the standard highway width requirements.
Needless to say, we’re all a little bit envious. Very cool!
