Video: ZR1 Rendering That Breaks The Corvette Mold

RP Design recently started to pump out awe-inspiring digital renderings of popular vehicles, ranging from a desert-beaten Lamborghini Huracan to a supercharged jungle-storming 1965 Buick Riviera. Using breathtaking photos from Speed Hunters, this Czech Republic native shows us, with help from Photoshop and an outrageous skill set, what it takes to transform a standard photo of a vehicle into an awesome car rendering.

Starting with a standard production ZR1 Corvette photo, and utilizing the magnetic lasso tool in Photoshop, the original background is quickly stripped away. Implementing aftermarket fender flares of a first-generation Skyline, the ‘Vette gets a unique look with a bit of stretching and trimming of the fender flares to fit the sleek Chevrolet body.

A monstrous wing off of a Subaru WRX STI hatchback is cut out and mirrored and worked into the rear bumper, and the license plate provisions are blended smooth with proper shadows being added. The addition of a Nissan Laurel’s lower rear bumper coolers, tow hook, muffler, and Ford Anglia rally car air diffusers brings an imported feel to this American supercar.

After the blending of image clippings and digital shadows, supports and diamond plate texture is included in the rear bumper. The outside taillights are replaced using ones off a picture of a ’73 Barracuda. They have also been taped to add a roughed-up look to this race-inspired C6.

Receiving a set of wheels and tires off a ’71 Skyline, a few more touches inspired by autocross include a roll cage, tachometer, and carbon fiber body panels. The muted track background adds a dramatic and ominous tone to the racing environment of the rendering.

While some of the digital renderings that RP Design composes are off the wall, and don’t appeal to everyone, you have to appreciate the time and effort that is devoted to blending multiple photographs to make one awesome representation.

Do you think RP Design did this Corvette ZR1 justice? Make sure to tell us what you think about this video in the comments below.
