It has been a few months since we’ve seen an inspiring video from Corvette Racing, the most recent of which was titled, “Why We Race.” This particular video focuses on racing the 24 Hours of Daytona, what life is like behind the scenes during an endurance race, and a little specifically about Tommy Milner.
For those that do not know, Wikipedia defines Tommy Milner as, “An American GM factory racing and test driver, currently also employed full-time in Corvette Racing. Tommy started karting at the age of 14 and began his career as a sports car driver in the 2004 and 2005 Grand-Am seasons. After finishing third in the 2010 GT Driver’s Championship, he decided to make the switch to Corvette Racing in 2011.”
Aside from some epic audio and closeup shots of the car and team that most of us would never otherwise see, this video does a terrific job of conveying just how pivotal a cohesive team is in auto racing, especially when competing in endurance style racing. Every member of the team must be able to whole-heartedly rely on the team member on either side of them. As you will see, nearing the end of the video, after running continuously for nearly 24 hours, the margin between first and second place was a mere 35 seconds… talk about sitting on the edge of your seat!
Corvette Racing is proud to have such a committed, young talent in the driver’s seat in addition to the rest of their stellar team. With such a talented staff and great race cars, Corvette Racing should continue to be a competitive threat to all that line up with the C7.R Corvettes. Those of us at Corvette Online continue to wish Corvette Racing a safe and successful season.
