When Chevrolet built the C7 Corvette, it was aiming to produce the best bang-for-your-buck sports car it could, and we think most of you would agree that they’ve succeeded. With 450 horsepower, devilish good looks, and a vastly-improved interior, the C7 Corvette is a monster machine on the streets, even in its most base form. But how does the new Corvette hold up after the asphalt ends?

That’s what Mike Tornabene of GNARPM (get it) set off to find out in a rented Corvette, because you’d never do this with your own ‘Vette, right? Right.

Mike and his partner Zac are no strangers to aggressive driving, and there is a proud America tradition of hooning the hell out of rented sports cars for the helluva it. Perhaps the most famous example are the Shelby GT350H Hertz cars, though we imagine those were mostly kept to the track. Not this rental rally Corvette though, as Mike and Zac take the red sports car off the highway the first chance they get.

The resulting chaos kicks up dust and heart rates, as well as insurance premiums we’re betting. Dusty burnouts and drifting through the desert is the order of the day as this once-beautiful car gets covered in grit and grime, all in the name of entertainment. Truth be told though, this looks like an absolute blast, at least for the drivers. The Corvette itself ends the video with warning lights flashing and funk smells emanating from the hood, but that’s what the rental insurance is supposed to cover, right?

While this is not what GM intended for the Corvette to do, it seems to handle desert drifting with aplomb. For Mike and Zac’s sake though, let’s hope the rental agency doesn’t see their little video.
