Recently announced by General Motors is the news that two more colors are getting kicked off the steadily-changing line of Corvette exterior paint options. Last year saw the end of Night Race Blue and Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic’s production and, come April, the Laguna Blue and Shark Gray options will receive the same fate.

Per the folks over at CorvetteBlogger, both colors will phase out in May 2016. According to their sources, the last date to order Shark Gray is April 15, whereas Laguna Blue is April 28. We can likely expect that the colors will be replaced (seeing as how the C7 started with only 10 paint options), but there is no news yet as to when they will arrive, or what those new colors will be.

As to why these colors are going the way of the dinosaur, speculation points to GM’s in-the-works paint facility as reason for the change. The plant is expected to be in full-swing by 2017, so perhaps all of these color changes are somehow in preparation for the introduction of the Bowling Green, Kentucky paint shop.

Whatever the true reasons, all we know for sure is that these colors won’t be put on the ‘Vette for much longer. But, look at the bright side: years from now, we can all reminisce to the Corvette-loving generations behind us about how we “remember the days when Chevy still made Laguna Blue and Shark Gray C7s.”

If you have one of these two colors on your car, hang on to it. Who knows … perhaps in 30 years time, the color may end up becoming a rare and collectible member of the C7 line, comparable to owning a split-window or classic Grand Sport (well, maybe not, but you get the idea).
