Improved Racing has released an oil cooler kit for the C6 Corvette that not only adds significant cooling capacity but also ensures the engine oil reaches safe minimum operating temperatures quickly on the street.

The factory oil cooler setups found in the C6 Corvette Z06, Z51 and Grand Sport models are known to be insufficient for track use, often allowing oil temperatures to reach as high as 300°F. These factory setups also suffer from severe over-cooling issues during normal street driving. In many cases, oil temperatures may never rise above 120-140°F on the street.

Improved Racing says the large cooler included in their kit will reduce peak oil temperatures by as much as 30-50°F. The kit is available with an integrated thermostat rated for 180°F (part number EC6-600) or 212°F (part number EC6-601), which ensures safe minimum oil temperatures during street use.

For those who don’t need the extra cooling capacity but would like to resolve the over-cooling issues plaguing the C6’s factory oil cooling system, the company offers a thermostat and oil line upgrade kit that works with the factory cooler. Like the full kit, these kits are available with 180°F (EC6-610) and 212°F (EC6-611) oil thermostats. The chart below shows just how effective this kit is at accelerating oil warm up and maintaining safe minimum oil temperatures.
