Aeromotive’s Gen II Stealth Tank: What Makes It Great

Aeromotive’s Gen II Stealth Tank has been on the market for a little while now, and we’ve been lucky enough to put one through it’s paces. If you remember our install article from a few months ago, you’ll know it was chock-full of features and benefits. All of which make it far superior to the factory tank. It doesn’t really take much to be superior to a factory tank, though. Then what makes it such a great option in the aftermarket arena?

Well, the issue we were having with our Firebird’s fuel system was starvation under hard cornering. One option to remedy that problem was to replace it for an – often times very expensive – aftermarket unit with all the bells and whistles. The other option was to modify the factory tank – at considerable effort. Aeromotive’s engineers said, there has to be a better way!

Aeromotive’s Gen II Stealth tank drops into the factory location and utilizes the factory straps to ensure an easy installation.

We can’t speak to an average cost of an aftermarket tank with baffling, dual-pickups, internal pump, etc. but they are typically quite pricey for the average enthusiast. The other option left you at the mercy of your own fabrication skills. If you chose to modify your existing tank, it would require you to cut an opening for an internal pump, measure for depth, cut the pump’s pickup to the proper length, install the pump, and hope it all goes together the way you need it to.

Sure, there are some of you reading this, and thinking, “what’s so hard about measuring and cutting?” For professional fabricators, and talented hobbyists, probably nothing. But, the average enthusiast might not have all the fabrication tools necessary. Or they may just be wary of cutting on a gas tank with leftover fuel or vapor in it. Sparks and gas do have an explosive relationship, after all.

Regardless of the reason, there are a bunch of people out there who don’t want to deal with the hassle. So, it does beg the question, if there is a better way, why not use it? Enter Aeromotive’s Gen II Stealth Tank. The Gen II Stealth Tank does away with all the fuss of modifying a factory tank, or spending an exorbitant amount of money on an aftermarket option.

A cross section of the Gen II Stealth Tank shows Aeromotive’s Phantom baffling system. The system keeps things quiet and ensures the pump is submerged in fuel at all times.

Aeromotive went ahead and did all the hard work for you and took the guessing out. The Stealth Tank comes ready-to-run out of the box. The pump, baffling, and sending unit are all pre-installed so the tank comes ready to drop in. Installation is as simple as placing the tank in the factory location, plumbing the outlet and return lines, wiring the pump and sending unit, and turning the key. You can even reuse your factory mounting straps. Oh, and did we mention it does all of that for less than $600.00?

Just check out the video above and see what we’re talking about for yourself. They make these tanks for a whole host of applications, and every accessory you’ll need to install. You can find out more about the Gen II Stealth tank, and everything else fuel system related on Aeromotive’s website, here.
