Leaked Photos Give First Glimpse Of C8 Mid-Engine Rear Design

In just 10 days, the world will get a clear view of what the next-generation Corvette will look like. For some, that’s too long of a wait. The ‘net was a flurry of anticipation around a leaked photo that many assume is the real-deal C8 Corvette’s view which many competitors will be observing.

The photo, which many assume to be taken within the Corvette Assembly plant, shows a blue C8 on a lift. While you can’t tell exactly where the photo was taken, what you CAN tell is worth its weight in gold. The image shows the rear fascia of the car without any camo or padding. The re-designed rear taillights are front and center, for all to see, as are the additional cooling ducts and exhaust tips. The taillights are highly sculpted, more so than the previous generation and are strongly believed to feature sequential lighting.

The rear shot also shows a clear view of the rear spoiler area, which brings functionality and form to the rearmost point of the car. Unlike previous generations of Corvettes, this rear view illustrates a much slimmed-down rear vertical profile. Members of some forums, such as the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com — where we obtained this image — had varied responses to the leaked photo. Some reported that they found the new design “bland”, while as you can imagine, the bulk of enthusiasts were exceedingly happy about this new revelation.

As it stands, we’re only ten days away from actually knowing much more about this fascinating auto. Until then, perhaps there will be a few more tidbits of information thrown across the internet’s bow before the covers come completely off. If not, thank goodness we’ve only got ten more days. Whichever happens, be sure to check back at CorvetteOnline.com and we’ll keep bringing you information about GM’s worst kept secret to date.
