Just think of how many Rochester Q-jets are still out there in circulation today. The mainstay for GM carburetion between 1965 and 1990, it carried the fuel chores in literally millions of applications. Interestingly, with so many units manufactured, options for upgrading have remained quite limited.
Swapping to EFI or even to another style carburetor, required the use of adapters or changing intakes altogether. Thankfully, Holley has just announced their new Sniper EFI for Rochester applications. This new addition to the Sniper line of EFI brings all the benefits of EFI to the Quadrajet-borne applications.
The kit includes a 3.5-inch full-color touchscreen for initial setup, tuning, and gauge displays, multiple fuel-inlet configurations for a totally stock appearance, and integrated-timing control. As an added bonus, it’s compatible with most stock air cleaners. Thanks to not needing an adapter, it will fit under the low-slung hoods of Corvettes!
Just four wiring connections are required: battery positive, battery negative, switched ignition, and RPM. A calibration wizard takes care of everything. Once you answer a few basic questions about your engine using the touchscreen, the calibration wizard creates a base map and starts tuning on its own.
If you’ve been considering updating to EFI but swapping intakes or hood interference was always an issue, then the new Holley Sniper EFI for Quadrajet applications may be built just for you!
