The West Coast Nationals is one of the longest running events on the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association schedule, and is set to take center stage for its 31st year at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California, August 25-27.
The West Coast Nationals brings together more than 3,000 hot rods, street rods, customs, musclecars and trucks through 1972, for three action-packed days of American automotive greatness. This truly is a “must attend” event on the annual Goodguys schedule.
While at the West Coast Nationals, fans will get a close-up look at the crowning of the Goodguys 2017 Flowmaster America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod. This award is part of the Top 12 awards for the 2017 event season, and the winner will be selected on Saturday morning from the Builder’s Choice Area at the event. To be eligible for this award, the vehicle must be a 1948 or older vintage.
If you need to do some shopping for your project, there’s a midway featuring many manufacturers offering high-performance parts and accessories to professional builders and the do-it-yourselfer alike. You will also find three buildings full of vendors, a giant swap meet, and the Auto Trader Classics car corral. This event is a literal utopia for any red-blooded American with oil running in their veins.
The Nitro Thunderfest returns to the West Coast Nationals, as nitro burnin’ vintage top fuel dragsters and funny cars fire up and roar to life. You can also bring the youngins along, as there will be plenty for them to do. For instance, there’s a model car make n’ take program sponsored by Revell, the PPG coloring contest, arts and crafts, and other kids games and activities.
The Goodguys open the gates Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. General admission is $20 at the gate, kids 7-12 are $6. Just so you’re prepared, Alameda County Fairgrounds parking is $10. Visit www.good-guys.com to purchase event tickets or to get vehicle registration information.
