Corvettes Represent In Optima Ultimate Street Car Association Competition

We all know that Corvettes are fun to drive. What separates them from so many dull, daily commuters, is their greatly-expanded well of performance that has been engineered into their design. They’re great drivers, and they’re proving to be pretty good competitors in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Association competition.

Part of the points system includes a road rally where cars prove their road worthiness.

The Ultimate Street Car Association (USCA) is a sanctioning body formed to create a series of safe, fun and high profile national automotive events for street-legal performance vehicles. Cars participating in OUSCA competition have been described as “SEMA-quality cars that race!” The OUSCA battles it out on several tracks throughout the season and features varied classes to allow for more evenly-paired competition between entrants. You will find Corvettes in almost every class offered in the OUSCA. And, you’ll find about every generation of Corvette proudly waving the banner for the fiberglass faithful.

This past weekend the OUSCA battled it out at the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. Corvettes were on-hand and C4 enthusiasts will be overjoyed to hear that Chris Ramey took top honors in his 1984 Corvette. Chris’ Corvette is obviously modified for competition, but as with all entrants to the OUSCA, the cars are graded and receive points on their performance and street-worthiness.

Chris Ramey’s 1984 Chevrolet Corvette won the QA1 GTV Class at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Chris has worked hard since the first competition at Las Vegas to better meet the exacting standards expected from the “Ultimate” street car. He garnered enough points to pull out in front of the pack and sits comfortably in the points lead.

All vehicles entered into the USCA competition will be judged on their construction and modifications that enhance the look, performance, and/or functionality of a stock vehicle while maintaining or enhancing the daily-drive comfort features and accessories.

The competition is for high-performance street cars that strike a balance to:

  • Reach the highest performance on the track
  • Contain features that allow it to be driven daily
  • Achieve high quality fit and finish
  • Innovative and cutting-edge ideas and parts

A panel of Judges will use exacting criteria to evaluate each car using a numerical rating. Each event schedule will be packed from start to finish and contain FIVE key segments:

Design & Engineering
Road Rally
Speed Stop
Autocross
Road Course

Everything from solid-axles to C7s are welcome to participate at OUSCA events.

The next event will be held at the NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With close proximity to the Corvette Assembly Plant and the National Corvette Museum, it goes without mentioning that Corvettes will be on-hand to compete and to cheer on the Crossed-flags faithful.

Check out the OUSCA website to see all the locations and which competitors are registered to compete at each location. If you’ve got a car that you feel fits the classification of the ultimate street car, feel free to contact the OUSCA crew and get in on the fun!
