The night air around the sleepy little town of Sebring Florida has become accustomed to the throaty, staccato tone of performance exhausts. Recently, it was blessed to hear the up-coming C8.R making a few hot laps around the historic course.
The C8.R has been spotted making rounds on other courses, and just yesterday, this video popped up showing the new mid-engine racecar carving some famous corners on U.S. soil under the cover of darkness. One of the first things to note is that the deep, throaty growl of the C7.r and previous Corvette Racing efforts has given way to a higher-pitched howl.
Perhaps a debate to be had through more finely-tuned ears than our own, but many are saying the car sounds “like a Ferrari” while we think they’re just getting used to hearing a flat-plane crank in action. Although, we seriously think that there’s at least a duo of turbos between the power-maker and the night sky, likely affixed to a smaller displacement engine than Corvette aficionados are used to.
The best thing about this video is that the car is alone on the track, so you can take a listen for yourself and hear the new C8.R at full song without any distraction. Just make sure your speakers are turned WAY up!
