BRAKING: Hawk’s New Brake Fluid Is Made For Performance Driving

You’re diving into a turn – probably a little too hard, but someone’s on your a** – and you go to press the brake pedal, and they’re gone. Your brakes are shot, so is your chance at nailing this corner, and hopefully not your entire car.

Upgrading your brake fluid is probably not be the most fun or exciting thing you want to spend money on when it comes to your car. The good news, though, is its super easy to swap out, and could be a great investment for those that road race or even those that drive their cars hard on the streets (like most of us here do).

It’s recommended to be replaced every season and bled after each event, if you track your car. For daily drivers, it’s recommended to be swapped out roughly every two years. These service intervals generally help to eliminate the dreaded brake fade and spongy pedal feeling that arises when the fluid level decreases or reaches boiling temperatures.

Hawk – who we’re sure you’ve heard of before – has long been known for their performance rotors and pads. Now they’ve expanded their offerings, announcing a performance brake fluid, called “HP520,” to pair up with their systems.

…This is why we dig it. Its a DOT 4 specification. What’s this mean? It’s compatible with tons of vehicles, but its specifically formulated for performance applications.

Its minimum dry boiling point of 500°F (260°C) outperforms OE and the majority of the off-the-shelf brands out there. This higher number means, maximum stopping power for much longer periods of time. It’s a perfect option whether you’re just looking to go from Point A to Point B or carve through some canyons for a while.
