McLeod Racing’s new Muscle Car 5 transmission allows Ford or Chevy musclecar owners the ability to enjoy an overdrive transmission without having to make expensive modifications to the car. Fitted with a 2.95 first gear and .63 fifth gear, the innovative design allows for fitment in almost any musclecar or truck.
“These are available in Ford and GM bolt patterns,” said McLeod’s Joe Macasero. “It has that .63 fifth gear for someone that wants that fifth gear for overdrive. It’s also narrow enough to fit in really tight floor tunnels too.”
According to Macasero, the Muscle Car 5 can handle up to 500 lb-ft. of torque, and with fully synchronized gears, it delivers smooth shifting and quiet operation. It is designed to fit factory bellhousings and mount in the factory crossmember location.
A new product for this year is the Mustang GT 350 clutch. “These are available in the popular dual disc RXT version, which can hold up to 1,000 horsepower, or the 1,200 HD, which holds up to 1,200 horsepower,” explained Macasero. “The only difference between the two is the pressure plate. The 1200 HD has a little more pressure to hold the higher horsepower. They both come balanced as an assembly.”
