SEMA 2016: Hypertech Custom Tunes in Real Time

If you have ever bought a digital custom tune for your truck or car, but never considered a handheld tuner device, Hypertech is out to change your mind. Hypertech has now added several new features for its popular Max Energy 2.0 that allows the user variable tuning in real time.

According to Hypertech National Sales Manager, Chris Crecelius, “We just released tunes for the updates to these vehicles and new features unique to handheld tuners. These are features that you would get that a custom tuner would do for you — ones you need to order and download to a flash device.”

The Max Energy 2.0 Programmer updates are set for 2015-2016 Ford F150 2.7L V6, 3.5 Ecoboost and 5.0L V8; along with the 2015-2017 Mustang GT. The new units have the updates built in while existing customers can download these hot new updates towards the end of the year. GM applications will also be available soon. Hypertech says the Max Energy 2.0 Power Programmer delivers more power-per-dollar than any other bolt-on on the market today. Plus, it installs in less than 15 minutes without using tools or getting your hands dirty.

They have added new presets including Shift Response where the part auto shifting can be adjusted through several variables like throttle position, load and engine speed. The settings go from Hyper Mileage for greater fuel economy, to Hyper Track adjustment that almost feels like a manual. Throttle Response works with the throttle by wire mechanism. There is also Torque Converter Slip.

“Ford Vehicles have different modes such as Normal and Sport mode,” said Crecelius. “Our tunings can make each of these modes adjustable. There are different settings to adjust the throttle sensitivity. This eliminates having to go back to your custom tuner for a different tune that may or may not cost extra.”
