We love the car shows. Car shows bring out the best, the proud and the cars we rarely get to see on our regular jaunts to and from work or play. There are daily drivers, trailer queens and some of our favorite “under construction” cars that will take a lifetime to complete but they get driven regularly. Some car shows are for the elite, while other shows are for those who simply love their ride, and want everyone to see their pride and joy.
The upcoming “All American Pow Wow” being held October 21st at Embarcadero Park North at Seaport Village in San Diego is one such show where you can see it all. Hosted by the Mopar Club of San Diego and the Pontiac-Oakland Club in San Diego, it’s a joint venture between these two clubs that invites all to attend.
Domestic muscle cars, rat rods, classic cars, trucks, modern muscle cars, imports and even motorcycles are all welcome. If it has at least two wheels, you can ride or drive it, and you want to show your vehicle to the folks in San Diego, then dust it off (or not) and bring it to the show.
There are few venues left in beautiful Seaport Village where car shows are held. Being lined with luxury high rise hotels on one side and the beautiful marina on the other, the scenery will be incredible no matter which direction you look.
Past shows have been very successful, and this first-time pairing of the two clubs is sure to be a hit with everyone. Regardless of whether you’re a Mopar or Pontiac fan, this show is about uniting the car lover in all of us, so you will surely find something that you enjoy at this event.
Proceeds from this show will benefit three organizations: the USO, Homefront San Diego and Fisher House San Diego. All three organizations benefit our military personnel and what better way to say thanks to those who have served our country!
There will be a huge raffle, with prizes that include a flat panel big screen TV and a Wii game set, and awards will be handed out at 2:30 to winners in several categories. Mobile Event Radio’s mobile DJ will provide musical entertainment throughout the day, and food and beverage vendors will keep the stomach from grumbling after your first of many treks through the show.
On hand celebrities this year will include Jim Wangers, the legendary “Godfather of the GTO”, and noted author/photographer Robert Genat, who’s latest title is “Woodward Avenue: Cruising the Legendary Strip.” We hear that there should be a couple of famous GTOs on hand, including the infamous GeeTO Tiger race car, and an autograph session for you car buffs.
The Paralyzed Veterans of America will have two hand-control race cars on display, and Surf City Garage will be handing out free car care samples while supplies last. If past shows are any indication of how successful this show will be, then you can expect well over 200 vehicles in attendance, and the venue can support up to 400 vehicles. The show starts at 8 am on Sunday and is free to spectators. Entrants begin lining up at 7 am, and the entry fee for your vehicle is only $30 at the gate if you haven’t registered prior to October 11th.
So come on out and show your support for our proud and brave military personnel, benefit three awesome charities, and see some of San Diego’s finest automobiles, trucks, bikes and people. Visit the Mopar Club of San Diego web site for more information, and to get your entry form. Look for Street Muscle to be there to cover the event and take pictures, interview winners and to talk with other enthusiasts who love muscle cars!
