Wrecked Vette Wednesday: Smashed ’90 ZR1 Part Out

Looking for something a little different for your next project, or maybe you just need some parts for your C4? Well we’ve found just the thing. This video we came across on YouTube of a wrecked, but perhaps fixable, 1990 ZR-1 Corvette offered by QualityAutoPartsRUs shows a sad fate for a rare car.

The ZR-1 was arguably the top dog production car of its era, setting numerous land speed records, and during an era of underwhelming performance cars this bad Chevy was capable of clipping 60 MPH from a dead stop in less than 4.5 seconds. Much like its modern (and hyphen-less) counterpart, acquiring a C4 ZR-1 was an extremely pricey proposition back in 1990, and there were less than 7,000 made during the entire 6 year run of the car’s production.

The car is complete other than the interior (which has already been sold), and the exotic 5.7L DOHC 32-valve LT5 is complete, and does still run, and comes with the 6-speed manual transmission. However, the seller does report in the video that there are problems with the ECU, and the fuel system needs some work.

What do you think? Bring this icon back to its former glory, or just buy the drivetrain, and drop it in the RWD sedan of your choice for a bit of sleeperish fun?
