Wrecked Vette Wednesday: Drunk Driving Results In Death
How many news stories and real life experiences does it take for people to understand the dangers of being drunk and getting behind the wheel? It would be nearly impossible for someone not to know or have experienced the pain and horror caused a fatal accident caused by a drunk driver. Unfortunately, this scenario played out for one California family, who lost a 49-year-old mother when a C6 Corvette plowed into their SUV Saturday, March 17 2012. KABC reported that the 49-year-old women in the Nissan Pathfinder died as a result of the collision and that her 20-year-old daughter sustained critical injuries as well; fortunately the deceased’s 18-month-old granddaughter survived the crash without injury. John Rice, the driver of the C6, sustained moderate injuries consisting of broken bones.
Los Angeles County Sherriff’s investigators claim that excessive speed in combination with drunk driving is the likely cause for the crash that left one family devastated. KACB stated that the driver of the Pathfinder attempted to pull into a parking lot when Rice’s Corvette slammed into the SUV. According to the LA County Sheriffs, Rice was arrested and booked on felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter charges. Pictures show the remains of an almost unrecognizable Corvette and the destroyed silver Nissan Pathfinder. Based on the damage done to the Corvette, it is not likely that car will serve as organ donor for another project; perhaps the mangled body of the Corvette should be put on display as a reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving a performance car.
