Video: TrackDown Talks Racing with Corvette Racing’s Doug Fehan

If you love Corvette Racing as much as we do, you’re used to race updates, pictures from the crew at practices and events, and even “ride-along” videos showcasing some of the team’s greatest drivers behind the wheel of their C6.Rs, but rarely do we get an opportunity to talk strategy with the people behind the scenes. This week, that changes. On the latest TrackDown [1] episode from the DRIVE network, Leo Parente sits down with Corvette Racing [2] Program Manager Doug Fehan, as well as SRT Viper driver Tommy Kendall, to talk about the American Le Mans Series and what we can expect to see from both teams in the future. Check it out above.

With the kick-off of the 2013 American Le Mans Series [4] taking place just a couple months ago, rivalries are already very apparent, but when Parente sits down with Fehan and Kendall, it’s more like talking to family members than enemies. This should come as no surprise, however, as Fehan explains that on the track it’s an all out war, but at the end of the day, everyone racing in ALMS is out there in the same boat with the same goal, which builds more of a comradery than anything.

With that in mind, Parente dives into topics like sandbagging and blocking, as well as what Corvette Racing is doing to remain at the top of their game [5] as other teams try to encroach on their success. Whether it’s against SRT Viper, or any of the other top competitors like BMW, Porsche or Ferrari, Corvette Racing is merely trying to go out and give it their all, learn from the cars and have another successful season.

The American Le Mans Series returns in July for the American Le Mans Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, but both Viper and Corvette will be competing in the notorious 24 Hours of Le Mans [6] race in just over a month. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates about Corvette Racing’s Le Mans season and we look forward to hearing more from Fehan in future TrackDown episodes.
