Video: Tired Of Scraping the Front End of Your C7?

350223Ever since the debut of the C3, the Chevrolet Corvette has definitely been a long-nosed automobile. In fact if you look at a side profile in terms of the cockpit and seating position, you are sitting right in front of the rear tire, and we like it that way.

This helps shape the styling that we’ve come to know and love, and this design continues to prove successful as the C7 is so well balanced.

Also, no surprise here, but the Corvette is a sports car; and sports cars tend to sit low to the ground. When it come to dips, driveways, and speed bumps, this can sometimes create a little bit of a problem, or an uncomfortable noise at the least.

Fortunately, Granatelli Motor Sports has built a neat little product that should alleviate those unpleasant noises, and more importantly the unsightly damage to your undercarriage. The video at top of the page is for all of you C7 Stingray owners, and those of you with a C7 Z06 have your own video below.

C7 Corvette Bumper Savers

  • Fits C7 Corvette Stingray and Z06
  • Eliminates costly front-end damage caused by lowering, steep driveways, etc.
  • Active skid plate design with proprietary integrated urethane wheels
  • Includes all necessary hardware
  • Installs in approximately 1-hour (welding not required but recommended)
  • Sold in sets of two
We hadn’t seen J.R. Granatelli since SEMA 2014, so it was nice to catch up with him for a bit. We were also able to capture a bit of his own take on this new product. J.R. said, “This is a great way to protect your radiator core support. When you pull into a driveway or steep incline, any Vette owner fears that dreaded sound that is synonymous with the nose of the car dragging on the ground like a cheese grater in Green Bay. Our simple idea all but eliminates that problem…Naturally any car that is low to the ground has a chance of dragging on steep inclined surfaces, but what’s cool about our design is that it picks the car up and rides on the roller rather than damaging the car.”

We are happy to see a product that is so useful, yet so easy to install. Clearly the majority of us do not have access to a lift, but this shouldn’t add too much complexity to the job.

The results are well worth it, and will certainly help to keep your radiator core supports in great shape. As with most part installs, this time affords you the perfect opportunity to check over the surrounding areas for any leaks, cracks, or disconnects. And while it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, those of us who love to detail can take a few extra minutes to wipe down some otherwise unreachable areas.

You can view a separate installation page on Granatelli’s site by clicking here, or just keep the videos handy on your smartphone for the install on your Corvette.
