Video: The Sexy Sound of Hennessey’s Corvette ZR750

A lion’s share of the attention directed at GM this year has focused on the 2014 Corvette Stingray [1], a new-from-the-ground-up Chevy supercar that boasts a new engine and a suite of high-tech features that puts its predecessor to shame. More than that, the new Corvette has what is being called one of the best interiors in the industry.

Even the 638 horsepower Corvette ZR1 seems like an old hat compared to the new Corvette, which is where Hennessey Performance Engineering [2] steps in. For all the newness of the 2014 Corvette, it still has to put in its dues to earn the performance respect garnered by the Corvette ZR1. With just a few upgrades and a sexy-sounding exhaust, Hennessey was able to make this already-super Corvette even more badass. Corvette Stingray who?

Of course GM graced the 2013 Corvette ZR1 with plenty of cutting-edge performance technology, including the supercharged LS9 engine and a carbon fiber body designed for high-speed shenanigans. Then Hennessey turned the volume up to 11, cranking up the boost from 9 PSI to 13 via a pulley upgrade. Then they ported the stock cylinder heads, added a HPE air-induction system, as well as adding their own engine management software.

The result is an incredible Corvette that sounds like the 750 horsemen of the apocalypse, a delicious cacohpony of well-timed explosions and a mechanical symphony playing to perfection. We could listen to the ZR750’s song all day, but the boss might not like that. Emphasis on might.
