Video: Rolex 24 at Daytona As Seen Through GoPro HD

A lot can happen in 24 hours, especially at an event like the Rolex 24 at Daytona. In this awesome video from GoPro’s YouTube channel [1], we get a look at what the Rolex 24 [2] was like from Corvette Daytona Prototype driver Oliver Gavin’s perspective, as well as the perspective of a Grand Am race fan, all filmed with GoPro HD cameras.

Through the GoPro HD cameras we get to see how similar, and completely different each man’s day at Daytona really is. They each wake up, brush their teeth, and head off to the race track. But while the Grand Am fan waits in line for parking, Gavin is going through pre-race meetings and interviews with reporters, and when the fan is getting drivers to sign his souvenirs, Gavin is busy signing autographs himself. When the race starts we get some great shots from the point-of-view of the pit crew, and as the sun sets Gavin races on through the night while our race fan takes in some of the entertainment outside the track.

If you’re like me, then throughout this whole video you’ll be looking out for times when the race fan and Gavin actually see one another with their cameras on. I won’t give it away, but you won’t be disappointed. Check out the video [1] and see for yourself.

(As you’ll remember from our news item on the Rolex 24 [2], Gavin and his Spirit of Daytona teammates finished a respectable 8th place in the Daytona Prototype class.)
