While drag racing and NASCAR are the preeminent forms of motorsport in America, across the pond in Europe they have decidedly different tastes. Road racing and rallying are the flavors of motorsport preferred by Europe, though plenty of American cars have found their way to the Continent’s shore to live second lives as race cars.
Take this 1969 Corvette Stingray rally racer, which we found a video of back in May. Jalopnik has uncovered some interesting info about this Corvette, including the fact that you can rent this beast for a mere $10,000 from FunkyCars.ch. Or if you’ve got $185,000, you could just outright buy it.
Funkycars calls itself one of the leading vintage rally car rental agencies, offering up competition-prepped older cars as arrive-and-drive rentals for all sorts of events. Rates range depending on where the car has to go, and for how long, though a typical event will cost you around $10,000. Not cheap, but how many other places let you rent a classic vintage rally car like this Corvette?
Not many places, that’s for sure. FunkyCars also offers a classic Chevy Monza, a Ferrari 308 GTB, and a Fiat Ritmo Abarth for rental. But yeah, we’d definitely rather have the vintage Corvette to flog for a weekend. Do any companies provide this service in America for a more reasonable rate?
