Video: New Shots of Transformers Bumblebee Camaro, Corvette

Against all odds and good taste, the Transformers CGI movie series has become a regular summer blockbuster thing. Who would have thought 80s toys-turned-cartoon-show would be so relevant and popular nearly three decades later?

While we can’t explain the success of the Transformers movie franchise, we can at least sit back and enjoy it for what it’s worth. With the movie series currently filming its fourth installment in Detroit, Camaro5 member gm2376 [1] managed to get on-set for an up-close look at some of the star cars, including the all-new Bumblebee Camaro and the green, over-winged 2014 Corvette Stingray.

The movie seems to wreak havoc on the city of Detroit across many iconic locations, including Chinatown and the Campus Maritus park. The open set day allows fans to get an up-close look at the stars and cars, and on hand was the Bumblebee Camaro concept that director Michael Bay revealed on his website a few months ago.

It’s a sharp car, and it leaves us wishing GM had done a little more work to the 2014 Camaro refresh. But if Bumblebee isn’t to your liking, there’s also the wildly-green 2014 Corvette Stingray, which for some reason has a ridiculous wing attached to it. The poor car hasn’t even hit dealerships yet, and Michael Bay has already made a mockery of it, making even the ostentatious Optimus Prime big rig look downright normal.

But as a bonus, we’ve included a brief clip of the 2014 Corvette chasing a Bugatti Veyron through the streets of Chinatown. There’s a sentence we never thought we’d write….
