Chevy recently posted this cool new Centennial commercial on their YouTube Channel featuring a sweet 1969 Corvette, rolling down the road to the back drop of the band Golden Earring’s 1973 hit, Radar Love. The commercial is to promote a new interactive program that Chevy has posted on their website, where you can take a unique look at where your life has taken you, from behind the wheel of a Chevy.
The program is called “The ride of YOUR life” and is posted here, on Chevy’s centennial website. To find out where your life has taken you, you choose from one of six different Chevy vehicles; 1948 Pickup, 1953 Corvette, 1957 Bel Air, 1969 Corvette Stingray, 2010 Synergy Green Camaro, and the 2011 Volt . You then input a few details about yourself, including where you grew up and where your favorite school is located, and choose from 5 songs on the car’s virtual radio dial (…of course, we chose Radar Love). Once you make your selection, your personalized video starts to play, with images of the locations from your past, flashing along to the music of your chosen song. (The images are actually just shots taken from Google Maps of the addresses you provided, but it’s still a fun way to waste a few minutes.)
The execution of the video is far from perfect, but hey, it’s still a pretty neat idea. The video ends with a shot of your personalized “road of life” map, showing just where the road of life has taken you across the US.
