While we may already be in February, some of us are still celebrating the new year of 2013 (and writing 2012 on our checks – yes, we still do that). Whether this means nursing hangovers, forging ahead with New Years resolutions, or trying to take a more optimistic outlook on life, the new year still feels so very… new. For General Motors, the New Year was the perfect time to launch a slew of new cars, as well as a new slogan for the Chevrolet brand.
Chevy’s slogan for 2013, “Find New Roads”, replaces the less-catchy “Chevy Runs Deep.” The first full-length commercial highlights all the different vehicular offerings from the Bowtie brand, including the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray.
The 90-second commercial spot goes through a laundry list of Chevy vehicles, many of which are new and have been refreshed in the past few model years to appeal to increasingly choosy buyers. The video is actually a collection of of commercials-within-a-commercial, with each car getting its segment. The Chevy Volt, for instance, drives through nature and emphasizes high tech, while the new Impala is driven by a businessman to a soundtrack of classic Sinatra.
But of course we’re all here for the 2014 Corvette, which makes its commercial debut in this video. It stars in a car chase, being tracked down by some massive futuristic jet fighter in a scene reminiscent of the latest Batman movie. It is appropriately epic for such an awesome car, though the commercial ends with the little girl, robot dog, and Chevy Volt. That’s all well and good, but we could have used more Corvette time, y’know?
Now we’re just waiting for a full-length, dedicated Corvette commercial to hit the airwaves. As they say, the sooner, the better.
