Typecasting is a delicate subject in Hollywood. Once an actor is recognized as a certain character, it hard to be considered for another role. Think Marcia Brady, Gilligan or Fonzie.
Michelle Rodriguez rode the “Fast and Furious” franchise all the way to the bank and we’re wondering if movie roles for “tough girls” are in low demand these days.
She certainly doesn’t need the money. Her films have grossed over $5 billion dollars collectively and she is arguably one of the most iconic actresses in action flicks, as well as one of the most visible Latinas in the movies today. Maybe she’s just doing it for her well known love of cars.
Which brings us to this video we have for you. “Riding Shotgun with Michelle Rodriguez” is her new show produced by Yahoo Autos and it’s a fun little romp. Watch as she takes a few track laps in one seriously massaged 2008 Corvette Z06.
Owned by Jack Brown, a former cop, this nasty black ‘Vette has been heavily breathed on with an APS twin-turbo system on top of a Warhawk LS motor producing up to a whopping 1268hp. The former NYPD narcotics detective says the only thing that’s stock on the motor is the alternator.
It rips 0-60 in 2.98 seconds and tops out at blistering 187 mph. Everything had to be upgraded including wheels, tires and suspension to handle doubling the horsepower.
Rodriquez hops in the Vette and runs the beast through it’s paces around the track. She grabs the car by the reigns and navigates the track skillfully. Go, mama go!
If all this turns you on, keep your eyes peeled on Yahoo Autos for more episodes.
