Video: Matt Farah’s C5 Gets Featured on Adam Carolla’s Car Cast

[1]

One of the things that we love most about the LS series is that you can modify them quite a bit, and to the casual observer they still appear stock...

If you have ever taken the time to watch Adam Carolla’s YouTube video channel, Car Cast [2], you know that he usually like to feature cars from some of the most famous people of the world. It’s quite similar to Jay Leno’s Garage [3], only since Adam’s not quite the same kind of baller Jay is, it’s in front of a garage in what looks to be a driveway of a suburban home.

This week’s episode features Matt Farah, of The Smoking Tire [4], and his ’98 Corvette coupe. Having purchased this little red C5 brand new fifteen years ago fresh out of high school (lucky guy), he proudly still owns it today – albeit, with several modifications.

One of the key cosmetic features of Farah’s C5 Corvette is not only the one-off, custom Proformance Industries [5] wheels (19×10 F/20×11 R) hiding the StopTech [6] brakes, but the C5.R sealed beam headlights. Farah also tells the Car Cast boys that the Y-body only has 27,000 miles on the tick – not bad at all for being 15 years old!

Farah modified the parts that mattered, to make the Vette fast and functional.

Now don’t go thinking this Vette is all show and no go, because under the hood is the factory 5.7L LS1, but with a set of ported heads, an aftermarket camshaft, and other goodies. As Farah puts it, “everything that could be done to the LS1 without actually pulling the motor has been done.”

We think it’s awesome that Farah still has the car all of these years later. It just proves that his love for the Vette, and in cars in general, is real and he is a true enthusiast that enjoys sharing with with other gear heads.
