Video: LS1 Swapped C3 Stingray Corvette

The Stingray Corvette was among the baddest machine of its time, but unfortunately, almost forty years of time has put its technology behind just a little bit. Not to mention, it was produced at the beginning of the infamous oil crunch, which makes it all the less relevant as far as power goes.

[1] How does one go about solving this dilemma? Simple, just drop an LS1 in it! The owner of this particular 1973 Vette [2] decided to do just that. The original power plant was swapped out with a nicely modified LS1 pulled from a ’98 Vette. Not only was the new engine backed up with a T56 and 4:11 gears, but just about everything else (aside from the ancient suspension) was redone or replaced along with it. For example, a considerable amount of creature comforts have been added. Not only does it have a leather interior pulled from a z06, but it also boasts power steering and air conditioning systems as well. According to some of the uploader’s other videos, next up on the “To Do List” is a navigation system and a set of custom gauges to compliment the rest of the car’s updated theme.

Now that this C3 is strapped up with a reported $60k in the latest equipment, it is ready to go down the strip, on a road trip, or do anything that the owner sees fit. It’ll sure do it a lot better than it would have in 1973!
