This is one way to see the “rain coming down on a sunny day.” While surfing YouTube for our daily fix of interesting car clips, we stumbled across this video, which captures a C6 Hennessey Corvette give a little bumper love to a water filled-safety barrel during a blast around the autocross course at the Texas Heat Wave Car Show in Austin, Texas, that was held in late July of this year.
The Vette makes some pretty decent runs around the course, but if you skip to about the 2:45 mark, you’ll catch the full incident as it unfolds. The driver comes into a left hand turn a little too hot, and nails the 300 to 350 pound plastic barrel squarely with the front bumper of his high-end Corvette, sending a magnificent spray of water shooting through the air, and subsequently splashing down right on the open convertible.
The video caption gives us a bit more detail, telling us: “Hennessey Corvette took down the leader’s time for the small autocross circuit set up they had going on. After the ‘bath’ he took at 2:45 he got out and did a walk around. He did a few more laps after he hit the water barrel and set a higher benchmark time which no one could take down.”
Well, at least winning the event helped the driver claim a little redemption after his impromptu car wash.
