Video: Get Behind the Wheel with Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner

By now you already know that the #4 Corvette Racing [1] car took the GT victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring [2] over the weekend, but what’s an event like this really like for the professional drivers behind the wheel of these highly competitive cars? Well, for Tommy Milner, it’s simple: a cool head, plenty of horsepower and the traditional cat and mouse racing technique that Corvette Racing is so good at. Check out part of Milner’s experience at Sebring this year in the video above thanks to DRIVE [3].

[4]Having recently turned 27, Milner is starting his third year with Corvette Racing and he’s proving himself more and more as one of the Le Mans Series drivers to watch out for. Son of team owner Tom Milner, Tommy is no newbie to racing, however, as his career started way back in 2000 with kart racing.

At this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring, it was Milner who took a turn behind the wheel of the No. 4 Corvette C6.R as the race was entering its final leg on March 16th. And with just 13 minutes to go, Milner made the pass that secured the race title for Corvette Racing, their first GT victory since 2009.

But before all the racing action could take place on Saturday, Milner took to the track for a practice stint, one that incorporated the team’s new rear facing radar system. If you pay attention to the screen just to the right of the drivers seat, you can see just how this system works, alerting Milner of other cars coming up behind him and hedging to pass him.

Corvette Racing did an awesome job at the first endurance race of the season and we look forward to seeing their success continue at the Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series race at Long Beach next month. In the meantime, enjoy a bit of a professional driver’s eye view as Corvette Racing aims to tackle even more tracks in the near future.
