Well, well, well. Looks like someone’s getting frisky on public highways with a 2,400 hp C6 Coupe. Built by D3 Performance Engineering out of Houston, Texas. If there was ever living proof of the old saying “Something wicked this way comes,” it’s this nasty Chevy supercar. With twin, flame-belching turbos protruding from the hood, slicks and a shute out back, this thing sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the lozenge shaped cars surrounding it.
Watch this Vette buck and whine under full throttle. Thank the GoPro revolution for multiple camera angles and vantage points. We even get to hear our pilot huffing and puffing with adrenalin in slow motion at the end of the clip.
The C5 and C6 have become the go to car for these kinds of mega HP applications as they were thoroughbreds right from the factory and are relatively cheap now. Add a massive aftermarket of speed suppliers and the fifth and sixth generation Corvettes are the platform of choice for modern speed junkies.
Now, let’s talk about getting crazy on the street with 2,400 hp. At several points in the clip the pilot almost loses control of the rig as he tortures the tires and twists the body structure with all that power. We all like to have good time but this car was built for the strip, not the local intestate.
Okay, highway safety rant over, listen to this thing whine! And when the loud pedal gets stomped, this car moves fast. Good thing its black because it’s about as stealthy as a neutron bomb.
