Video: Final Checks Before Corvette Racing Takes on Le Mans

As you may very well know, the 24 Hours of Le Mans race is right upon us, but before Corvette Racing [1] can take to the track in an official capacity, they must first pass strict inspections to even be allowed on the course. Check out what the Corvette Racing team had to do to guarantee their cars were ready and legal to race in the video [2] above.

corvette_racing_le_mans [3]Professional racing is no joking matter and when it comes to the rules and regulations both for the car and the drivers that compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it’s even more serious. That’s because the 24 Hours is one of the most prestigious and competitive road races in the world and a favorite for some of the industry’s best and fastest drivers.

In order to guarantee that everything checks out, Corvette Racing must put their cars through a rigid “scrutineering” process. Cars are prepped and inspected on the regulations of the race as well as engineered for performance and speed. And don’t think that the drivers get the easier end of the stick. They too have to go through rigorous tests to make sure every piece of safety equipment they have is ready to hold up to the pressures of racing. And yes, that even means their underwear.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans kicks off tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. ET/3P.M CET. Be sure to tune into SPEED [4] to catch your favorite Corvette drivers as they battle it out for the ultimate racing title in France.
