Aside from the all of the awesome things shown in this video: the Zo6, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a helicopter… oh and Miss Mortaud, there is some pretty impressive cinematography that should peek the interest of even those not interested in drifting Corvettes and former French pageant winners.
The driver of the red Z06, anonymously cloaked in a driving suit and full-face helmet, exhibits some nice car control as he backs the Z06 into corner after corner around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway road course. The exhaust note during the closeup-tail-pipe shot gets your blood flowing as you listen to that LS7 roar, just waiting to be unleashed. With a drop of the clutch, the Z06 rockets forward, putting an instant smile on Miss Mortaud’s face.
The art of “drifting” or keeping the car in a controlled slide, is a unique talent to acquire. While it is certainly not the fastest way around a road course, it definitely has a cool look to it, and has even become its own form of motorsport in and of itself.
The key to this style of driving relies as much on pedal modulation as it does steering and is certainly a fun skill to add to your driving arsenal. Should you feel the need to drift, please practice on a closed course, and preferably not encircling French models.
The opening shot is pretty cool, with a side-by-side view of the helicopter against the Las Vegas skyline; taking a private helicopter to a road racing track would certainly make for one terrific day. We also appreciate the humor of the video with Miss France offering up a $100 bill for a ride, only to get back $1 in change following the “encircling donuts” display at the end. After all, we would surely take Chloe Mortaud for a spin in a Z06… wouldn’t you?
