The saying goes, “Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes,” and it seems appropriate that you could extend the same principle to cars. You shouldn’t judge what another man drives until you’ve spent plenty of time behind the wheel of his ride for yourself, and you might just be surprised. In this video from YouTube, Hagerty brought diehard Corvette owner and Bloomington Gold CEO, David Burroughs together with classic Porsche collector and expert Reid Vann to see if the two could find some common ground after swapping rides for a day at the track.
Burroughs brought his 1970 Corvette LT1 to the track, while Vann rolled out his 1973 911 RS, and the two swapped keys and hit the track to see what the other’s “alien machine” is all about. At the beginning of the video Vann states, “The Corvette, I expect to not feel quite all-together.” Don’t sweat it though, because the Vette does us proud, showing Vann what America’s Sports Car is all about. After a few laps Vann changes his tune, saying, “I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the Corvette handled.”
Unfortunately, the video is just a teaser for Hagerty’s March 2012 magazine edition, so you’ll have to read the article to get both Burroughs and Vann’s full reviews of each other’s cars.
