Video: Deeper Insight About The C7’s Instrument Cluster

It hasn’t even been a week yet, but it’s safe to say that we’ve written more articles on the C7 than we would have ever imagined. We’ve covered everything, even the front license plate holder [1]. But we finally have some deeper insight on the innovative instrument cluster, thanks to our friends over at Autoblog [2]. [3]

Ryan Vaughn, the Interior Design Manager for the Corvette, walks us through the features of the C7’s 21st century reconfigurable instrument cluster. The first thing you notice right off of the bat is the 8-inch, high-resolution screen that features three different modes that the instrumentation can be switched to.

As Ryan states, “It’s fully reconfigurable – there’s a sport mode, a touring mode, and a race mode” – which is right up our alley. Being the fun-loving, aggressive drivers that we are, we would probably leave ours in the track mode 24/7. It displays a g-meter, vehicle function information, a lap time stop watch, etc.

The car in the video is the very same car that the GM execs revealed to the public on Sunday, January 13th, and it displays each feature on a loop, for demonstration purposes. If you’ve been following along with us for any length of time, you may recall that we’ve covered the teaser trailer video [4] of this technology a few weeks back. If you have a few minutes watch the video, it’s pretty cool.

The Stingray currently at the Detroit International Auto Show displays it's infotainment instrument cluster on a loop - for the sake of demonstration purposes to the media and the public.
