Just like the rivalry between Camaro and Mustang, the Corvette has always found itself in an undying competition with the Porsche 911 Carrera. But with the growing amount of technology in both cars, innovative designs and the undeniable price point differences between the two, is it really fair to be comparing the rivals like we used to? Well, this week on Chris Harris on Cars from the DRIVE network, Harris takes on that question wholeheartedly as he puts both cars to the test at the famed Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. Check out the results in the video above.
Since its inception in the sports car market in 1963, the Porsche 911 has always found a hardy competitor in the Chevrolet Corvette, and given both cars’ successful race careers, it’s no wonder the two still share a competitive bracket today. But at nearly half the price of a 911 Carrera S, can the base 2014 Corvette stand up to the smaller German sports car with any kind of a backbone at all? Well, Harris concludes it can.
The Corvette may be bigger and a bit more “nervous” than the Porsche (which makes for some entertaining drifting and reactions from Harris), but for the price point, you won’t even come close to the features of the new C7. In fact, Harris concludes that there is no other car on the market right now that gives you as much bang for your buck.
We all had faith that the Corvette would prove to be a worthy competitor and though it lacked some skill that the Porsche had, we can all agree that for the price difference, a lot less could be expected of the iconic Chevy!
