Video: Centerforce DYAD Twin-Disc Clutch Street Demo

[1]

While it’s always fun to make gobs of horsepower, it might not be so fun to live with all of the unintended consequences that kind of power might make you deal with on the street. Having to use a stiff and noisy traditional multi-disc clutch to harness all of that power is a perfect example. Centerforce [2] has the answer in their DYAD Twin Disc Clutches [3] for modern muscle cars. We found this video [4] on YouTube of a test of the Centerforce DYAD Clutch by Total Performance Engineering in their C5 Z06 Corvette.

[5]DYAD literally means “two units acting as one” The DYAD clutch is a fully dampened multi-disc design, with a floating disc and disc drive setup for quiet and smooth operation and light pedal effort that will help produce better driver control and smooth clutch engagement. DYAD clutches also feature Centerforce’s patented centrifugal weight system that actually increases the clutches holding force with higher RPM’s.

As you will notice in the video, the DYAD is quiet and smooth, and seems to operate pretty much as the stock clutch would in both everyday driving situations, and hard acceleration. The DYAD clutch offers you the best of both worlds in your late model performance car – an extremely high torque capacity of over 1,300 ft-lbs., and the drivability and modulation of a stock clutch.
