Video: C7 Z06 Packs A Bigger Punch Under The Hood Thanks To LMR

Smooth, sleek, sexy, and fast–all words that easily apply to the new 2015 Z06. Built from the factory to be a badass performer on the track, the supercharged supercar isn’t one to be trifled with by adversaries both foreign and domestic.

LMR_2But what if someone did trifle with it? That was the mission behind this awesome development at Late Model Racecraft in Houston, Texas.

Already well-known in the racing world for producing some of the meanest Corvettes in the States (including the first C7 to run in the 9-second range), the company decided to up its game in the Stingray department by installing a Stage II package onto the vehicle seen in the above video. The Stage II package includes LMR cold air induction system, American Racing Headers 2-inch stainless headers without cats, LMR overdrive harmonic balancer, LMR custom-grind camshaft kit, LMR 160-degree billet thermostat housing, NGK spark plugs, and MSD 8.5mm spark plug wires.

While the Z06, in its stock form, can produce a beastly 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque with the LT4 and 1.7-liter supercharger, that just isn’t enough for some folks. LMR is no stranger to the Corvette name, having developed some killer modification kits for C6s that rate as low as 475 hp (Street Stalker, for base models) and has high as 885 hp (Reaper, for ZR1 models).

LMR_1So we wait with bated breath as we hear this Z06 go to work on the dyno, with body shaking and supercharger screaming. After everything has calmed down, LMR’s work on the Vette added close to 100 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque, with the dyno results showing the following: 743.5 hp, and 794.1 lb-ft of torque.

By all appearances, fiddling with the Z06’s electronics seems to have paid off big time. Would you volunteer to have something like this done to your ride? Or would you prefer to just keep it stock? Share your thoughts with a comment below.
