Good God Almighty. Check out this 3500 hp C7 drag car built from a perfectly good, black 2014 Vette. Lets hope it was a salvaged car or SOMETHING, as cutting up a new C7 seems an expensive way to go drag racing not to mention hard to swallow for Corvette folks.
Having said that, a guy or gal can do anything they want to their car and if your gonna make a C7 dragster, here’s the friggin’ blueprint folks.
At first glance you’d think there’s not much of the original C7 left, you might even think it’s just a funny car chassis with a Corvette body. Nope, this thing is running factory frame rails and an alcohol fed, Brad Anderson built 526 ci LS V-8 with a screw blower making an estimated 3500 hp. The builder says all factory body panels are retained, though the front clip has been bonded into a removable piece.
Owner says the goal of the car was to “Win races, set records and hurt feelings…”
Okay then, lets head over to the strip and see this super Stingray go on a couple of its first, break in runs. Fast forward to 2:32 if you want to get to the good stuff and turn up the volume and watch this car hook up and tear off a brutal 1/8-mile run in 4.11 at 188 mph.
Things get a little squirrelly on the second and third runs and the first run pass ends up being the fastest. Not to worry though, as this car certainly has more bang hiding in there somewhere and the owner now has some homework to do–fine tuning the car and practicing pointing the rig down the track in a straight line.
