Video: 2015 C7 Z06 Idling ‘Round NAIAS

As the top dog in Chevrolet’s current Corvette lineup, the 2015 Z06 [1] carries big numbers into the marketplace – at least 625 horsepower and 635 foot-pounds of torque from the supercharged 6.2L engine to go along with the C7’s world-class handling prowess.

There are plenty of other badass features on tap, including the now-standard direct fuel injection, your choice of a 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission, and Magnetic Selective Ride Control. A carbon-fiber hood, removable roof panel (a first for a modern Z06 model) and aluminum spaceframe help to set the Z06 apart from other supercars.

vette1 [2]While pricing hasn’t been released yet, nor has the car, today we have this great video of the ’15 Z06 idling through the show floor at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where it was revealed to the public for the first time. Check out the awesome exhaust tone – the car just rumbles, providing a hint of what’s to come when an owner drops the hammer on this factory-built supercar. While we don’t know any specifics on how the exhaust differs from the systems found on the base and Z51 Stingrays currently on the road, if history is any guide, it will be unique to the Z06 model (and a popular take-off upgrade for owners of lesser C7’s.)

Although we haven’t gotten our hands on a Z06 yet, we did have the opportunity to drive a brand-new Stingray around for a week, so have a look [3] at our firsthand review video on some of the features of the new car straight from Corvette Online Editor Paul Huizenga [4].
