Things got crazy over at North Star Dragway last week as the Radial Tire Racing Association held its “Radial Round Up” at the Denton, Texas venue.
Watch Jason Michalak and Bad9er racers wicked fast 2008 C6 Corvette running the eighth-mile in the 4.0s at 190 mph. He also grabbed the event win with consistent runs from a screw blown Brad Anderson Enterprises Hemi tuned by Billy Stocklin. On radial drag tires no less.
The track looked greasy and slippery but pay no attention to that. Michalak hooks this thing up and never misses a beat. The term “badass” is way overused these days but this Vette is the real deal. And the blistering runs aren’t a fluke as he easily rips off multiple runs at nearly 4 seconds flat.
The thing looks nasty in matte black with no flames or graphics, just a sky high mill and huge tires crammed under the Vette’s sculpted hind quarters. The only thing left of this 2008 C6 is probably the body panels. The motor sits in a tubular frame and the huge rear tires with narrowed stance mean the IRS was thrown overboard in the name of durability and speed.
North Star Dragway is a cool venue as well. Originally opened in 1995, formerly known as I-35 North Texas Dragway, the track has undergone a multitude of changes most notably it was lengthened by over 800 feet, making NSD the longest, all concrete 1/8th mile tracks in Texas. Check out the freeway running right behind the starting gate.
