Upcoming Spyker Aileron Spyder Gets ZR1 V8 Power

[1]

Spyker [2], the company that bought Saab , has certainly had their hands full moving from being a specialty car manufacturer to a full line automaker. That may explain why there have been some delays in other areas of the company.

[3]Fans of the Dutch company have been waiting for further news on the company’s Aileron supercar that was announced last year. Today, the company indicated that the original plans for the upcoming car to use an Audi V8 engine have been scrapped in favor of using the ZR1-spec LS9 engine from Chevrolet.

As reported by a Dutch magazine, Victor Muller, Spyker’s CEO has confirmed the change. The limited edition Aileron, of which only 99 copies will be made, jumps from 400 to 638 hp and from 354 to 604 ft-lb of torque. That level of change will certainly put the “super” beyond question in the Aileron’s supercar status.

The company previously indicated that its exotic models, such as the Aileron, will be made available through Saab dealers.
