The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of America’s greatest driving roads. Running along the spine of the Appalachian Mountains, the Parkway draws drivers from around the world who want to experience one of the best scenic roads known to mankind. The most famous section of the Blue Ridge is the Tail of the Dragon, a twisty route 11 miles in length with 311 curves. It is here that many photographers make a living snapping pictures of passing-by cars and motorcycles.

It was here on what is officially known as U.S. 129 that a member of the Corvette Forums [3] was involved in a brutal Corvette-on-motorcycle accident that was captured in stunning detail by a on-the-spot photographer.

This series of photos was taken by US129Photos.com [4], an outfit that regularly camps out the best curves to get photos of drivers ripping down the Dragon. As you can see from the photos, one older motorcyclist was paying more attention to the photographer than the driver, and found himself crossing the yellow line… directly into the path of an oncoming Corvette.

The photographer captures the exact moment of impact, as well as the motorcyclist flipping end over end in the air. Amazingly, both the Corvette driver and motorcyclist were alright, though the motorcyclist may have broken a bone or two in his arm. It is kind of unbelievable, kind of scary, and kind of cool that we have pictures of this whole accident, start to finish. Thankfully nobody wasn’t seriously hurt, because ‘crossing the center line into oncoming traffic’ stories usually have tragic endings.

Instead, it is just a reminder to keep your eyes on the road, not the photographer snapping pictures of your imminent demise.
