Ultimate Street Car Association Visits Ten New Racetracks For OUSCI

USCA1 [1]Last fall, the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational [2] (OUSCI) was called the super bowl of autocross. To be invited, you had to compete and win in sanctioned events across the country, and that invitation took competitors to Pahrump, Nevada, to crown a new champion.

USCA2 [3]This year, the event will include ten racetracks that are well known in the racing community, including the first two held this March: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, (7-9) and Texas Motor Speedway, (21-23). By adding the famous racetracks, enthusiast can compete on a famous circuit with their own street car. Registration for these two venues [4] is now open, with the other racetracks to follow.

But competition for the newly formed Ultimate Street Car Association [5] (USCA) is not limited to driver’s skills on a high speed track. The competition at each venue will include a road course, a road rally, a design and engineering challenge, the autocross, and the speed stop. The road rally will have competitors putting their cars on the road, to show that their car is an actual street car, and they must drive in traffic to a predetermined meet up. Any driver whose car cannot handle the rigors of everyday traffic will miss out on points, risking any possibility of winning that event.

The speed stop has racers putting on the binders within marked area, and the design and engineering challenge puts your overall build to the test. If you’re interior is lacking, you lose valuable points, and if you’re lights aren’t working – or they aren’t there – kiss your chances goodbye. As mentioned, these must be street cars, so they have to be drivable where most race cars wouldn’t dare go!

For those who feel they don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning, you’re not left out in the, …errr… cold? A “Spirit of the Event” winner will be hand-picked from each of these events and will receive a special invite to the OUSCI at the end of the year.

The remaining events will be held at these tracks:

Will we be seeing you at any of these events? Spectators are encouraged to attend, and if you think your car has what it takes to be the Ultimate Street Car, then head on over to the USCA web site [9] and register for the event(s) nearest you. And remember, even if you can’t attend, the events will be televised on MAV TV.

If you get MAV TV in your area, be sure to tune in this weekend, February 22, at 5 and 8 PM to catch the broadcast premier of the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational, with live Tweets during both broadcasts where viewers can connect with OPTIMA (@optima) to get behind-the-scenes facts about cars and the event.
