Two Super Rare LS6 Corvettes Up for Auction by Vicari this May

1971 Chevrolet Corvette LS6 001The 1971 LS6 Corvette was one of the rarest Corvettes ever produced, and the Vicari Auction Company has located a pair of them that will cross the block at their Second Annual Cruisin’ Nocona Auction in Nocona, Texas this May.

In 1971, only 188 LS6 Corvettes were produced, with just 24 of the convertible variety. The LS6 engine, a 454 cubic inch monster carrying a 425 horsepower rating, wears a set of aluminum heads from the factory that assist in producing a whopping 475 foot-pounds of torque. The convertible also makes use of an M22 “Rock Crusher” four-speed manual transmission and 4.11 rear-gear ratio – making this ‘vert truly one of the quickest machines of its era.

The convertible was located in a garage in southern Alabama in what is described as pristine condition, and still wears its factory Mille Miglia original red hue and factory black vinyl interior. The car has just over 13,176 documented miles, making it one of the lowest-mile examples in existence. The car is a one-owner Corvette and will be sold with documentation including the GM bill of sale to the dealer, the dealer bill of sale to the owner, and even the Protect-O-Plate and tank sticker.

1971 Chevrolet LS6 004The second 1971 LS6 car is a Brands Hatch Green machine with Saddle interior, offered for sale with 97,866 miles. This car was the subject of a frame-off restoration at the turn of the century and includes documentation of the entire build. It also has options like power windows, an M40 Turbo Hydramatic transmission, tilt/telescoping steering column, AM/FM pushbutton radio, and Rally wheels.

“Rare Corvettes such as the pair of LS6’s that will be offered at the 2014 Cruisin’ Nocona event amp up the excitement for the auction and I expect both to entertain vigorous bidding” said Pete Vicari.

If you’re a serious Corvette collector, you owe it to yourself to check these two machines out. Head on over to the Vicari Auctions website for more information on the sale.
