Reportedly, Sylvester Stallone purchased this 1968 C3 Corvette back in 2009 at a Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas auction. We are unsure whether the car had already been customized to some extent at the time of purchase or not, but considering the details, this Vette has Sly Stallone written all over it.
Pushing this ’68 down the highway is a 510 ci, 8.3-liter Donovan Big Block with Brodix heads, that produces about 660 hp. While no torque specs were given, we’ll assume it is fairly stout as most big blocks are. With a Lakewood bell housing and a five-speed manual transmission, the power is sure to be put to the ground without interruption.
The body has seen a few cosmetic changes, though the majority of the work is hidden from the sight, as the entire frame has been boxed and reinforced in stress-critical areas. A coil-over five-link rear suspension is tasked with moving all that power to the ground, and it is now able to do so quite consistently. Aside from the gorgeous Boyd Coddington wheels, and side pipes, modern updates to the car include an ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), fuel injection, and air conditioning.
The interior also saw some drastic changes with fully custom leather upholstery, Corbeau racing seats, roll bar, safety harnesses, and a Flaming River tilt steering wheel. This Vette is definitely a car that Rocky Balboa and John Rambo could agree on.
As of now, the car is located at Taggart Autosport in Cary, North Carolina. For the mere asking price of $129,000 you too could see what it’s like to sit in the same driver’s seat as one of Hollywood’s tough guys. While there have been other owner’s since Stallone, Taggart Autosport is willing to throw in a registration paper, and photograph of Stallone behind the wheel, both of which have been autographed by none other than Sylvester Stallone.
What would you pay for it?
