If you’ve been awaiting the release of the documentary “The Quest” on DVD, your wait is now over. Now, not only can you dive into the history of the 1960 #3 Briggs Cunningham Corvette, but you can follow along as the car is restored and reunited with one of its race-winning drivers. All of this from the comfort of your living room. Thanks to Corvette Blogger for bringing us the news.
As we reported, the debut of the film took place at the Carlisle Theater in Carlisle, Pennsylvania on May 6th where over 500 people attended. General Motors has since shown it as well as it being shown at Road America for the Corvette World Tribute. The documentary will also be aired tonight at the Corvettes at Carlisle event.
The documentary follows Chip Miller on his quest to find the #3 Corvette, return it to its glory and reunite it with John Fitch, who, along with Briggs Cunningham, drove it to its Le Mans victory. Struck by illness in 2004, Chip passed away, leaving the quest to his son. Lance Miller picked up where his father tragically had to leave off and was able to reunite the car with Fitch at 24 Hours of Le Mans last year.
If you’re interested in seeing tonight’s viewing of the documentary, tickets are still available for $15. DVDs can now be purchased for $20 plus $3.95 for shipping handling. Part of the proceeds from both tonight’s encore showing and DVD sales will go to the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation, which is dedicated to aiding research and awareness of amyloidosis, the disease that took Chip Miller’s life in 2004.
