The ’54 Corvette That Stood The Test Of Time To Be Auctioned

So much can happen in 62 years. Take for example, this pristine 1954 Corvette that is set to hit the auction block of Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale, Arizona, event. Virtually untouched, it is part of the coveted My Garage Museum collection of Mid America Motorworks.

Without a doubt, this stunning Chevrolet is the most period correct, unrestored Corvette still in existence, with the odometer barely creeping over the 3,000-mile mark. It has received a collection of awards including the National Corvette Restorer’s Society (NCRA), Benchmark and Duntov awards, and a Bloomington Gold Survivor recognition.

Out of 3,640 built for the 1954 model year, this beauty is of the 300 Corvettes that was featured with a Pennant Blue exterior and Shoreline Beige interior. In addition, it has the initial manufacturers statement of origin title, and is 100 percent original, minus the spark plugs that were occasionally swapped out for the very rare Sunday cruise.

There is no Doubt in my mind that the car is a near perfect example of a late Pennant Blue 1954 Corvette. -Sam Floz, National Corvette Restorers Society

First purchased by a gentleman from northern Indiana, as a gift to his wife before her untimely death, it was lovingly maintained but never driven, a fact reflected by the astonishingly low 2,904-mile odometer reading.

For the next 39 years, the Corvette changed hands three times, first sold by the original owner to Bill McDonald, owner of McDonald Chevrolet in Nashville, Indiana. McDonald then presented the car to Sam Floz, one the original founding members of the National Corvette Restorers Society, and one of the foremost experts on ’53 through ’55 Corvettes.

Upon reviewing the car, Floz said, “There is no doubt in my mind that the car is a near perfect example of a late Pennant Blue 1954 Corvette.”

In 1993, the car sold again, and ended up in a climate-controlled garage for 2 years, until it was added to Mike Yagers’ My Garage Museum collection in 1995.

Make sure to check out this stunning ’54 Corvette when it crosses Barrett-Jackson’s auction block on January 29.
