Whether you are into Corvettes, golfing, or wine you probably recognize the Callaway name. While some of us do enjoy the links and a glass or two, we are mostly enthralled with the automotive side of Callaway, specifically Callaway Cars. You can learn a little more about their beginnings and the amazing Callaway Sledgehammer in a recent feature.
The Sledgehammer was and still is one awesome Vette, but we would like to take a look at their newest work to the C7 Stingray. According to their website, the SC627 boasts the following specifications:

A lot of car guys out there prefer to do their own modifications, and we certainly can’t blame you as the majority of us here at Corvette Online are in the same boat. That being said, there is something to be said for having a tricked out Corvette the moment you want it. Additionally, Callaway has a special relationship with Chevrolet and are able to sell their cars at participating dealerships with the factory warranty still intact.
They actually offer their own warranty of which they explain, “Callaway offers the most comprehensive aftermarket warranty in the industry. Overlapping the factory GM warranty, Callaway covers all Callaway components and GM components that are affected by Callaway components. GM dealers do not block factory warranty on Callaway Corvettes; they perform maintenance and warranty repairs with support from Callaway Cars.
The Callaway SC627 produces a stout 627 hp (hence the name) thanks to the supercharger you see can see above protruding through the hood ever so slightly. While the car still does not make the 650 hp of the LT4 equipped Z06, it is rather close. Additionally, the larger–somewhat air cooled–blower and fluid-to-air cooling system is supposed to produce more consistent power than that of the LT4, as several folks have found it to be rather sensitive to heat-soak.
So if you select the least expensive options from both the Corvette and Callaway catalogs, you can purchase the SC627 for $73,990. With a horsepower rating rather close to that of the Z06, you may be wondering if you can almost have the same car at $5,000 less. Simply put… no, you cannot. The Z06 has a number of technological advances outside of the engine compartment, not to mention the track-monster created by adding the Z07 option package.
That being said, we think the Callaway SC627 is one sweet Vette of which should not be overlooked. Should we get the opportunity to get behind the wheel, we will be sure to fill you in!
